The Tehran Province Court of Appeal has upheld in full the sentence of five years of imprisonment and a two-year ban on Soheil Arabi engaging in activities related to social media.
The sentence had previously been issued by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
According to the ruling issued on 19 October, the Court of Appeal rejected Soheil Arabi’s appeal and upheld the original sentence in its entirety.
Soheil Arabi was sentenced to five years of imprisonment, with time already spent in pretrial detention to be credited towards the sentence, on the charge of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security.” The sentence was imposed under the provisions concerning repeat offences.
As an additional penalty, he was also banned for two years from engaging in any occupation or profession related to activities on social media.
The ruling comes amid continued judicial action against those detained during the protests of Dey 1404 (December 2025–January 2026). Human rights organisations regard the imposition of harsh sentences on protesters as evidence of the continued securitisation of the authorities’ response to protests and as a means of creating an atmosphere of intimidation to prevent further protests.

STATEMENT BY SOHEIL ARABI
Author: Soheil Arabi
Full of lies, shamelessness, and even contradictions:
“Several years of cooperation with several regime-overthrowing foundations!”
Now, what does he mean by a “regime-overthrowing foundation”?
The “Ghasem Children’s Foundation,” which covers educational expenses for children in underprivileged areas and provides financial assistance to families without a breadwinner…
A regime that has caused poverty and deprivation to intensify horrifically and relentlessly also tortures people as security offenders simply because they have helped victims of poverty, deprivation, executions, and repression.
The judges are so firmly under the command of the award-winning members of “Sarallah” that they did not even bother to review my case and notice the deliberate error made by the interrogator in the report.
For example:
The report states that my most recent conviction was for “moharebeh” (enmity against God), resulting in “internal exile.” In reality, in my most recent case, I was fined fifty million tomans on the charge of propaganda against the regime. Since I had spent more than three months in prison, the fine was offset against the time I had already served.
The internal-exile case, meanwhile, dated back to 2018. At that time, Ahmadzadeh sentenced me to two years in prison, a fine of fifty million tomans, and two years of internal exile (compulsory residence in Borazjan) for reporting on prison conditions.
Where on earth did the award-seeking interrogator get the charge of moharebeh from?
